Transparency to Below the Line

ETFE foils are extremely smooth and self-cleaning, thanks to the high surface tension. This means:

No cleaning team for the foil structure
No mobile maintenance platform for the roof
No growth of algae

On balance, this all has a positive effect on the operating costs. If the outer shell still gets dirty, for example as a result of waste gases, dust or bird droppings, the rain will normally wash this away. As far as Texlon HSP is aware, an ETFE roof has never needed to be cleaned from the outside. Dirt on the inside can easily be washed away using water.

ETFE foils are resistant to normal hailstorms (Swiss standard SIA 280). Damage - which is extremely rare - can be rectified on-site using a special adhesive tape. Immediate replacement of the roof or facade is unnecessary. Major repairs only take place when the operational situation permits. Individual elements can be easily replaced.
